It’s still Christmas Eve here, of course, but I doubt I’ll be posting for the next few days, so you get it now. I hope you all have a happy Christmas, Chanukah, Festivus, Kwanzaa, or whatever you might do for the next day or two.

I got my first Christmas present early — a permanent LiveJournal account from Six Apart, as thanks for my past volunteer contributions. Yay! It’s nice to have the account, but it’s even nicer to be remembered, especially considering my volunteer time was a while ago. Thanks, Rahaeli, Brad, and whoever else was involved with that.

(Of course, yesterday was also an Interesting Day At Work, in which the entire north american user OU was accidentally deleted from our Active Directory domain. We haven’t fully migrated from NT yet, so people could still login, but they couldn’t access any network resources. Luckily I managed to catch one controller before the changes replicated there, but it still took most of the day to get things up and going based on that. The biggest delay? A bug in HP’s remote console access application that in some display modes turns a single up- or down-arrow press into two keypresses, which meant that it was impossible to select dsrepair mode from the boot menu. Someone in Caldicot had to drive into work to hit the down-arrow for me. A bunch of people who really didn’t have to stay at work stayed to keep me company, though, and a couple who left called in a couple times to make sure things were going ok, which was definitely appreciated.)
