Dork.

Via Substitute, the You are Such a Dork Chain Letter “Meme” Thing:

List 5 reasons you are a dork. And make them good reasons. Justify them. Explain them. Be loud and proud of how big a dork you are! Then pick the 5 biggest dorks you know and have them do the meme.

  1. My personal website looks like twm.
  2. I met my fiancée on LiveJournal &mdash doing tech support. In an administrative role. Volunteer.
  3. I play Irish music. On the flute. And run a web forum on same.
  4. When Candice and I get crabby at each other, we defuse the situation by telling the grumpy one that they’re “walking sideways”, and doing the “crab dance”, in which we shuffle sideways while making crab-claw hands at each other.

Now, five biggest dorks I know. First one’s easy:

But for the rest.. hrm, it’s an embarrassment of riches but Substitute stole some obvious ones. How about

Yeah, that oughta do. Get to it!

  1. You wouldn’t happen to have any recordings of your Irish music on the flute, would you? Because I’m dorky enough that my iPod is half full of Celtic and traditional folk.

  2. None of me, no. But if you like that sort of thing you might like the recordings I’ve put up here, from a tape mostly comprised of recordings of the Irish flute masters of the previous generation.

Also I strongly recommend the Wooden Flute Obsession compilations that Kevin Krell put together if you’re a fan of the Irish flute. They’re a fundraiser for the ITMS so those ones I don’t pass around online. :-)

  3. Aw, I’m not one of the biggest dorks you know? How dissapointing.

I don’t know two of the people on the list. Trevor definitely beats me, but I typically don’t think of Jenny as much of a dork. I think it’s the accent.

  4. You’re up there, but you’d expect it. This way is less predictable!

When Fweebles and Spratt were up in Ottawa for Winterlude, one of spratt’s goals was to find a canada-flag toque like this:

    Most definitely a dork.
