Yay us! 40k sets is a yoooj install — while our press release calls it France’s largest VoIP contract, this is probably the world’s largest all-VoIP rollout yet. (We had a bigger one with Chicago Public Schools but that was a hybrid solution.) Slowly regaining job security is good for my mental health.

  • Cubicle photos

Because I am a dork, I took pictures of my cubicle at work. You can see there how well the big concrete column provides an enclosed office for me. You can also see that I am drowning in grey. I welcome decorating suggestions of appropriate taste (it’s the first cubicle on the floor) and style […]

I was playing with our scanner and made up this White Stripes wallpaper (200 kB) for my desktop, and figured I might as well share.

  • Musical toys

March is shaping up to be New Musical Toys Month here. Last weekend (shush, technicality) I received an Overton tinwhistle from Colin Goldie, the maker of Overtons, as a gift thanking me for the time I’ve put into the Chiff and Fipple Tinwhistle Forum, part of Dale Wisely’s Chiff and Fipple site. An Overton is […]

  • Avatars

Candice and I decided to use this flash-based avatar creator to make avatars of ourselves and each other:   Candice‘s avatar of me: My avatar of me: My avatar of Candice: Candice‘s avatar of herself: Candice‘s reaction to my avatar of her: I also did two animated avatars of Candice.

  • webcams and daylight cues

One big change with my new desk at work is that I don’t have a direct line of sight to outside anymore. (I can sort of tell if it’s light or dark out via my monitor mirror or the general office lighting, but I miss subtleties that way.) To fix this, I’ve got gkrellm running […]
