(I found that while looking for general traffic-calming stuff after reading about this living room in the road in England.)

    I have no problem with the bumps, but the north seattle answer is to put concrete islands in the middle of intersections. This doesn’t calm traffic so much as create a contest for who in an SUV can go over the side of the concrete thing at the highest rate of speed.
