From: Rich Lafferty To: DreamHost support Subject: Repeated copies of announcements I'm getting a surprising number of copies of the "Your data has been restored!" formletter, all with different ticket numbers. My mail logging doesn't capture Message-IDs and I didn't keep the old messages so I hope time and ticket number is sufficient. I do know that the messages all had different Message-IDs (and, well, subjects too) so I know they're not outright dupes. Mostly I figure it's not intentional so I thought I'd point it out in case I'm not the only one affected. The account you're writing in from was not affected. If you have multiple accounts, or have email from one account forwarding to another, the announcement you received was for a different account. It's also possible that you received the announcement by accident. We made many announcements to affected customers throughout the day. Nothing on "rich_lafferty" was affected in any way. We apologize for the confusion and let us know if you have any questions. Thanks! Hrm, I think my first question is "Did you read the problem report?". I *was* affected, which is why I got the announcement -- but the problem is that I've received the announcement four times, at the times and with the ticket numbers as indicated in the log entries I showed you in my original report. I wanted to make sure you were aware that your system sent out multiple copies of the announcement, with identical text but different ticket numbers, at the intervals I indicated. I would like you to fix whatever caused that so that I and other users do not always receive four copies of each announcement you send out. If it helps you to isolate the problem, the "Your data has been restored" message was the only outage-related message that arrived in quadruplicate. All of the other announcements I received during the outage arrived once. I have no questions about the content of the announcement or the outage (aside from the minor concern that you couldn't tell that I was affected by it!). -Rich
